Sedona Green
Along with all the fantastic films, workshops and events the Sedona Film Festival offers exciting films, programs and discussions planned for Sedona Green: Sustainability Programs at the Sedona International Film Festival.
This year, the festival will begin its preview weekend with two thought-provoking films, Revenge of the Electric Car & The Big Fix. Both films will be followed by sustainability conversations. Sedona Green and Sustainable Arizona have put together a panel of filmmakers, educators, and sustainability experts to lead dialogues on film, its impacts and the key issues of the day. Below you will find information on both the films and panel.
Revenge of the Electric Car
February 18th,2012 (3:00 pm)
Sedona Performing Arts Center
Narrated by Tim Robbins, this lively film goes behind the closed doors of Nissan, GM, and the Silicon Valley start-up Tesla Motors to chronicle the story of the global resurgence of electric cars. Without using a single drop of foreign oil, this new generation of car is America’s future: fast, furious, and cleaner than ever.
Panel Discussion following the film screening: The Power of Film to Change Hearts and Minds
The panel will engage the audience in a dialogue on the power of film to change hearts and minds. Come talk with the filmmakers and other experts about your experiences with film and how they may have changed your lives or influenced our society and our culture.
The Big Fix
February 19th, 2012 (2:00 pm)
Sedona Performing Arts Center
The Big Fix is a film that begins with an exposé of the events that lead to the Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling disaster. As the information floods in, the film delves deeply into the corruption surrounding the powerful in the halls of government and business. While this film is a well-documented indictment of the status quo, the community conversation which follows the film will be anything but negative.
Panel Discussion following the film screening: Taking positive action: What you should know, what you can do
Our panel of experts will look at some of the challenges we are facing in Sedona and the country and talk about ways each of us can take positive action to improve our own quality of life. Come join the panel to share your thoughts on how we can come together to help make our communities more resilient.
