The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Flagstaff premiere of the enjoyable feel-good comedy “Darling Companion”. “Darling Companion”, from four- time Academy Award-nominated director Lawrence Kasdan, is a comedy about many varieties of companionship. At the center of the movie is a marriage that has gone on for a long time and become frayed. Surrounding that union are young people falling in love, a brand-new marriage and the surprise of mid-life romance.This film features a stellar ensemble cast including Diane Keaton, Kevin Kline, Dianne Wiest, Richard Jenkins, Elisabeth Moss, Mark Duplass, Ayelet Zurer and Sam Shepard. Poetry Grand Slam

The top 12 slam poets in Arizona will compete in three rounds in front five judges randomly selected from the audience who assign numerical value to individual performances. At the end of the night, the top four poets will represent Sedona at the week long National Poetry Slam in Charlotte, N.C., in August. There, Sedona’s four representatives will compete against more than 350 of the best performance poets from the United States and Canada. At nationals, poets perform both solo and group poems, creating complex, dynamic performances. For the last sixth months, poets from all over Arizona have been competing in Sedona, earning points for the Sedona Poetry Grand Slam. ZENPROV: Father’s Daze

Thinking of taking a vacation this summer? Consider taking a two-hour trip through the comic terrain of Zenprov Comedy. Zenprov played their last show to a standing room-only crowd that spent the evening roaring with laughter. The Zenprov players embrace the Del Close method of improv acting, which emphasizes the “group mind” that mysteriously develops during a performance. Miraculously, the player’s minds fuse together to create a “super mind” where they practically finish each other’s sentences—and often do. Laughter ensues. Verde Valley Sanctuary Benefit Concert

Sedona Performing Arts Alliance Member Dom Giazzon will be hosting a benefit concert on Sunday June 17th, 2012 from 4:00 pm – 8:oo pm. Proceeds from the concert benefit the Verde Valley Sanctuary and All About Animals Rescue. The Verde Valley Sanctuary Benefit Concert features performances by just four of Dom Giazzon’s various musical projects, starting with a special Tribute to Sublime by da Ominators, featuring Robert “Wing” Ryan (The Rhythm Keepers, Riftors & Amitabha) and Randy J (solo artist, The Tarantulas, The Rhythm Keepers). da Ominators debuted on the old backyard stage in 2009 for the Casa de Milagros benefit concert, and have continued to appear in Sedona and Verde Valley since then, including New Years Eve shows at the Martini Bar for 3 years in a row.
