Special Events and Gala Parties
Wow, only two more days until the kickoff of the Sedona International Film Festival! This years festival is going to be amazing, Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne returns with his favorite classic films; Academy Award-winning producer, artist and costume designer Kathleen Glynn (Bowling for Columbine, Farenheit 911) will moderate and host this year’s workshops, one of which, “Composing Music for Film,” will be led by Oscar-winning lyricist and five-time nominee Don Black (Born Free); Oscar-winning screenwriter Robert Moresco (Crash) will be in town as will actress Lea Thompson.
And that’s just the beginning, did you know Elmo will be in town for a very special film festival event. Below you will find some of the Festival’s special events taking place during this week long celebration of independent film.
02/18/12 – Red Carpet Event: “The Last Picture Show”
Don’t miss this special screening of “The Last Picture show with Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree, Oscar nominee Peter Bogdanovich at the Sedona Performing Arts Center. There will be a a conversation and Q&A discussion followed by a dessert reception, catered by the Barking Frog Grille! This special festival event is open to all ticket holders.
02/19/12 – Red Carpet Event: “They All Laughed”
Enjoy a special screening of “They all Laughed”with Honoree Peter Bogdanovich at the Sedona Performing Arts Center. There will also be a conversation and Q&A discussion with Bogdanovich and Glenn Scarpelli followed by a VIP Reception* at the Barking Frog Grille. VIP Passes are required to attend this event.
02/20/12 – Red Carpet Event: “Being Elmo”
Are you ready for Elmo? Don’t miss out on the film premiere of “Being Elmo, Nominated for Outstanding Documentary – NAACP Image Awards. Elmo, Kevin Clash and the filmmakers will be on hand for a Q&A followed by a special reception at Reds. This event is open to all ticket holders.
02/22/12 – Jazz Stretch: Live concert by The Brubeck Brothers
The Sedona Film Festival will present the world-renowned, internationally-acclaimed Brubeck Brothers Quartet at the Sedona Performing Arts Center.The group’s creativity, technique and improvisation can be heard in their uncompromising music, which reflects their dedication to melody, rhythm, culture and the spontaneous spirit of jazz.Tickets for the Brubeck Brothers Quartet are only $12 each (or you may use your festival pass or ticket package to reserve your ticket).
02/26/12 – The Festival Awards Ceremony
The Festival Awards Ceremony will be held at the Sedona Performing Arts Center. Be the first to know which films are taking home the coveted audience choice awards and other special awards. This awards program is free and open to all festival-goers. Just visit the festival box office to pick up your complimentary tickets. Enjoy an Academy Awards-style presentation with live musical and dance performances by musicians and dancers featured in festival films. Plus, enjoy a look back at the festival week with a video montage featuring festival filmmakers, celebrity and VIP guests, and you. Plus, this year new awards categories will be added to honor more of the incredible filmmakers. You won’t want to miss it!
