Hummingbird Festival ~ First Friday ~ History & Hi-Jinx

1st Friday Evening in the Galleries - Meet Local Artists & Tour the Galleries
August 3rd, 2012 (5:00 pm – 8:00 pm)

On the first Friday of each month, members of the Sedona Gallery Association offer a unique monthly showcase highlighting artists, special exhibits, and art events. These special art receptions give locals and Sedona visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments while beginning their weekends with an exploration of Sedona’s exciting art scene. For your convenience, the Sedona Trolley provides free transportation to venture from art gallery to art gallery. Museum of Northern Arizona – 63rd Annual Navajo Festival of Arts & Culture
Flagstaff, Arizona
August 4th & 5th, 2012
Artists, musicians, dancers, and cultural interpreters from the Navajo Nation will gather at the Museum of Northern Arizona’s 63rd Annual Navajo Festival. Visitors will hear the Navajo language, see pots of clay being formed, and watch weavers create detailed designs on traditional looms. There are also opportunities to meet silversmiths, folk carvers, and painters. They will enjoy the pageantry of Navajo social dances and delight in centuries-old musical traditions. And they will be able to sample traditional foods—red and green chili stew, roasted sweet corn, and the ever-favorite Navajo tacos with frybread. Sedona Heritage Museum – “Arizona History and Hi-Jinx”

Join the Sedona Heritage Museum in welcoming local actor Michael Peach presenting “Arizona History and Hi-Jinx”. Mike uses jokes, stories, first person narrative, and original cowboy poetry to explore quirky and mysterious events in Arizona’s colorful history. Cowboys and livestock, Hollywood, bootleggers, wildlife, and political chicanery are all featured as he spins tales of Arizona’s transition from territory to statehood. All based on true events and a family friendly show. The Sedona Heritage Museum is located at 735 Jordan Road in Jordan Historical Park. The Museum is open daily at 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Jerome Art Walk - Arizona’s Art Destination

5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Every first Saturday, the creative community of Jerome is pleased to host an evening of art, music and entertainment with open studios and galleries displaying local, regional and national artistic treasures. New members have joined the group and are planning special events throughout the town. This free event has become a Verde Valley favorite with a shuttle that will transport you from the artist filled Old Jerome High School, up to the center of town with The Lincoln Gallery and Made in Jerome Pottery and everything in-between.
