While you are visiting Sedona, Arizona over the Thanksgiving weekend make sure to check out the Festival of Trees at the Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village.The Festival of Trees is the perfect event for kicking off your holiday season.This week long festival features forty elaborately ornamented trees turned into art by some of Sedona’s favorite artists which are up for silent auction and on display in the Tlaquepaque Ballroom ( Proceeds to benefit Toys for Tots and AZ Living Treasures). Red Rock Fantasy XXI
Festival of nearly one million lights
November 17th, 2011 – December 31st, 2011
Sunday through Thursday – 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Fridays & Saturdays – 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Nestled within the world-renowned red rocks of Sedona, Red Rock Fantasy is a festival of nearly one million lights boasting over two dozen displays created by families from the Southwest. The festival promises never before seen marvels of light that leave children in wonderment and move adult minds to enjoy the holidays as they did when they were young. It is a magic that can bring cartoon favorites to life, challenge children to scavenger hunts within the displays, or illuminate an undersea ad venture. Opening Ceremony for the 21st Annual Red Rock Fantasy will take place this year at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Verde Canyon Railroad
“Artists in Residence”
November 26th – 27th, 2011
11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Give yourself a gift this holiday season and celebrate creativity at Verde Canyon Railroad. Interact with local artists, jewelers and authors at the depot during the railroads special Artists in Residence weekends this winter. Ask painters and craftspeople where they find their inspiration and how they utilize native materials in their work. Enjoy authors sharing personal, handwritten greetings inside their books. This weekend will feature: Cottonwood painter, pastel artist and weaver Wanda Wood, iron worker and jeweler Sarah Harms, Michele Cokl Naylor an Ohio native and a resident of Cottonwood. Her charming collages and quilted fabric pieces share a sense of whimsy and good humor,and Jim Atkinson recently relocated to Arizona from Alaska. Jerome Lights up the Mountain
A night of lights, entertainment, and Santa
November 26th, 2011
5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
It is that time of year again to light up the mountain.The beautiful town of Jerome will be aglow with soft light from hundreds of luminaria starting at 5pm. The talented students of Mingus Union High School will be on hand to sing, provide music and perform vignettes from their upcoming Holiday play.
