Visit Sedona, Arizona October 21st through the 29th and experience one of Sedona’s most popular events: Sedona Plein Air Festival!

Thirty-two award-winning artists, selected from among the best of the best, have accepted invitations to participate in this unique artistic showcase. They are coming from all over the United States to spend eight days painting en plein air, and to share their incredible talent and unique experiences with this challenging art form.

The week long Sedona festival will feature these painters all over town – on the streets, trailheads, creeks and vistas  capturing the beauty of the Sedona area on canvas. Below you will find a list of free festival events!

“En pleinair,” French for “in the open air,” is a spontaneous art form with artists creating outdoors, responding to the immediacy of the moment and reflecting the excitement of the changing light, weather conditions and deepening shadows on canvas.

"Save the Art Barn" in Sedona, Arizona

The historic Sedona Art Barn, once a fruit packing shed, became the original home of the Sedona Arts Center in 1961. It is in dire need of restoration. You can help raise the money needed to make the restoration happen without spending a penny! The Sedona Arts Center has entered the Art Barn in the Pepsi Refresh Project, hoping to raise $250,000 to fund the project. Your votes will help them win and give Sedona a better place to “Bring your Imagination to Life!”Watch the video to the left to see what the Art Barn has done to help make the Sedona area the art destination of Arizona why the Sedona Art Barn deserves your vote.

Sedona PhotoFest in July

If you’re a photography enthusiast come to Sedona, Arizona for an eight day celebration of Southwest Photography. The Sedona Arts Center is proud to present the Sedona PhotoFest July 18th – 25th. In this inaugural year, the PhotoFest offers workshops presentations, keynote talks, panel discussions, evening events and lots of things for the entire family to do. Take this opportunity to learn new skills and improve on the skills you already have from award winning photographers like Pulitzer-winning photographer Jack Dykinga, landscape photographer Tom Till, award-winning photographer Susie Reed and many more masters of photography.

Sedona Arts Center’s new exhibit “Art in Motion”

Miro FitzgeraldWhile you are on vacation in Sedona, Arizona make sure to include the new exhibit “Art in Motion” at the Sedona Arts Center’sMembers Fine Art Gallery, located in Uptown Sedona at the corner of State Rte 89A and Art Barn Road. This exhibit will be showing until March 3, 2010 and features four very talented local artists who are able to captivate the beauty of the world in their own unique styles and mediums. The featured artists are:

  • Miro Fitzgerald
    Known for her plein air paintings
  • Justine Mantor-Waldie
    Known for her creativity with both ink and layering techniques that create captivating desert vistas.
  • George Averbeck
    Specializing in hot glass and lampwork.
  • Joella Jean Mahoney.
    Dramatic large-scale landscapes in oil.
