Sedona Film Festival Presents 'The Sun Behind the Clouds'

If you are going to be visiting Sedona, Arizona on July 1st, do not miss your opportunity to see the award-winning documentary “The Sun Behind the Clouds”. If you have any interest in the Dalai Lama, world history, or world culture this is a must see film. This is a one-night-only special event presented by the Sedona International Film Festival. There will be two screenings of the film at 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm at the Sedona Creative Life Center.

In “The Sun Behind the Clouds”, Tibetan filmmaker, Tenzing Sonam, and his partner, Ritu Sarin, take a uniquely Tibetan perspective on the trials and tribulations of the Dalai Lama and his people as they continue their struggle for freedom in the face of determined suppression by one of the world’s biggest and most powerful nations. The filmmakers had intimate access to the Dalai Lama and followed him over the course of an eventful year, which included the 2008 protests in Tibet, the international response to it, the Beijing Olympics, and the breakdown in talks between the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government.

*Sedona is home to the Buddhist Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park, an excellent place to visit for prayer and meditation. You may be inspired to visit The Amitabha Stupa after seeing this film! It is open every day from dawn until dusk and your visit is free of charge. Directions: From State Route 89A in West Sedona, turn south on Andante Road (beside the Circle K store). Follow Andante to Pueblo. Turn left on Pueblo and park. It is a short 5 minute walk to the stupa.
