Marathon in the Red Rocks
February 4th, 2012
The Sedona Chamber of Commerce, along with the entire Sedona area, will welcome thousands of runners, their families and friends for a weekend of fierce competition and neighborly camaraderie in the world famous resort destination of Sedona, Arizona. More than 2,500 runners will participate in 5K, 10K, Half or Full Marathon races which will take the runners through the scenic Coconino National Forest District, known for its magical red rock formations, and onto the streets of what Good Morning America has chosen as one of the Top 10 most beautiful cities in the United States. 1st Friday Evening in the Galleries- Meet Local Artists & Tour the Galleries

On the first Friday of each month, members of the Sedona Gallery Association offer a unique monthly showcase highlighting artists, special exhibits, and art events. These special art receptions give locals and Sedona visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments while beginning their weekends with an exploration of Sedona’s exciting art scene. For your convenience, the Sedona Trolley provides free transportation to venture from art gallery to art gallery. Jerome continues its love affair with ART on February 4th with the First Saturday ART WALK. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the 26 galleries and studios of Jerome will be brimming over with visual delights. logo_sedonamarathonThe Sedona Marathon “Cinco de Marathon” is approaching quickly and the event kicks off today with the 5th Annual “Biggest Loser” Challenge. What better way to start getting in shape for the New Year?

Rather than pounds lost over a four-week period, the Marathon will take hip and waist measurements at the start of the contest and then re-measures inches lost on race day. To participate in the Biggest Loser you must register for one of the three Marathon races:

  • Marathon
  • 1/2 marathon
  • 5K
  • Individuals or teams of 2, 3, 4 or 5 can participate
  • Walkers are encouraged.
  • There will be a winning category for both the individual and the team.

Simply show up at the Goldenstein Gallery on January 7 and get measured in by Richelle McMaster from Pilates by Richelle. She will provide you with tips to help you reach your goals.

The Sedona Marathon Invites You to "Get off the Couch"

logo_sedonamarathonThe Sedona Marathon is inviting everyone to “Get off the Couch” and live a healthier more active lifestyle. Starting November 19th there will be free seminars held at 6:30pm in the Goldenstein Gallery in uptown Sedona. The free seminars will be led by renowned Olympic trainer Phil Wharton of Wharton Performance. Phil Wharton was recently named one of the top 100 health experts by Dr. Oz. This month’s free seminar will provide you with information on how to prevent injury during your “getting in shape” regimen. During these seminars you will learn how to:

  • Get out of muscular/joint pain
  • Rebalance your muscles
  • Refuel with performance fuels
  • Visualization/meditation to help you on your health journey
  • Achieve your maximum performance

Additional seminars will be held December 10th and February 7th.

These seminars are free to all, but space is limited so reservations are requested. With the 5th annual Sedona Marathon “Cinco de Marathon” fast approaching, this would be a great time to take advantage of all that the Sedona Marathon has to offer by participating in their seminars and preparing for the marathon taking place on Saturday February 6th, 2010.
