This special train leaves the depot at 5:30 p.m. in full daylight. As it traverses the canyon the high cliffs are bathed in amber hues. Photographers refer to this as the “golden hour,” when sunshine flows down canyon walls like warm honey. As the train chugs into Perkinsville, a lavish sunset streaks the sky. The return trip offers a serene glimpse of the nocturnal stirrings of wildlife and a dazzling canvas of moon and stars.

Sedona’s Verde Canyon Railroad Teams up with Liberty Wildlife

If you are in Sedona, Arizona on April 22nd join in the Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Verde Canyon Railroad, Earth day, and the 10th Anniversary of the Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival. Verde Canyon Railroad, a place where eagles are frequently seen in the canyon, will team up with Liberty Wildlife to bring you the opportunity to learn about bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, great horned owls and other native Arizona birds of prey. Liberty Wildlife will be bringing education animals with them to the railroad staging areas so you will be able to view these magnificent animals. The presentation will start at 11:00am and the presenters will be available to answer any of your questions before and after. The train will depart at 1pm.
