Every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from December the 1st untill the 21st, 2011 the train pulls away from the depot with two VIEs (Very Important Elves) aboard. Santa and Mrs. Claus entertain passengers throughout the Verde Canyon Railroad’s four-hour journey singing carols and handing out Mrs. Claus’ homemade cookies.

  Jerome resident Peggy Hicks will be signing copies of her newly published historical novel The Ghost of the Cuban Queen Bordello. Inspired by a true Jerome ghost story, Peggy set out on a quest to uncover secrets about the town’s infamous madam, the Cuban Queen.

I would rank “Ales on the Rails” as one of my favorite Oktoberfest celebrations in Northern Arizona. Then again  I might be a little biased I have German roots, adore the train, love beer and and devour brats. You be the judge!

There are parties and shindigs and then there is Oktoberfest, the grandest, most tuba-intensive bash of all. Of course Verde Canyon Railroad never misses out on a good time so they roll out their popular Ales on Rails trains every weekend during the month of October. Enjoy a warm and sultry night filled with art, music and gallery hopping is in store on August 6 for First Saturday Art Walk in Jerome. Visit 25 galleries and studios throughout this charming mountain town from 5:00-8:00PM.
