Learning the History of Sedona
Sedona Heritage Museum located at 765 Jordan Road in uptown Sedona. With the main focus of shedding light on the early pioneers of 1876 to the present time, the museum is home to three historical buildings, the Jordan home (1931), the Fruit Packing Shed (1946) and the Tractor Shed (1929). They have recently added a audio tour and there are plenty of exhibits, including a 46-foot apple machine.- Institute of Ecotourism at 91 Portal Lane in Sedona. My 10 year old niece is a big fan of theirs. They have an abundant amount of free events like Native American Storytelling, Geology of the Red Rocks, Native American flute concerts, and they provide interactive exhibits that are state of the art. Not to mention they have a green house on site to explore.

Verde Canyon Railroad gives your children a chance to ride the rails and learn an appreciation of the geology, archaeology, desert flora and fauna, and the Indian lore of the canyon. You have an opportunity to see eagles soaring high above the tracks and their outdoor viewing platforms offer an exquisite look at the canyon.- A Day in the West offers a tour called the Complete Western Experience. You will enjoy a two hour jeep tour, horseback riding along the Verde River and a picnic lunch after you cross the river. How cool is that!
- Last, but not least, Blazin’ M Ranch (only 20 minutes from Sedona) is the ultimate cool place for kids and parents alike. They know how to bring the cowboy or cowgirl out in all of us. They offer activities such as friendly farm animals, shooting gallery, horseshoe pits, and mechanical roping horse. You can even dress up in some western garb and get your photo taken at Olde Tyme Photo Studio.
